The pattern shown in this quilt block is similar to the Star of Bethlehem quilt made by former slave Maria Rodgers Martin, also on view in this exhibition. The quilt by Martin would have been created 80 years earlier than this pattern block by Kansas quilter and dressmaker Carrie A. Hall.
