These two untitled pieces represent a partnership between Carnie, who produced the watercolor images, and Rachel Causer, who modified them through stitch work. The modification of one artist’s work by another directly engages Carnie’s interests in how responsibility, consent, and anonymity are articulated for heart transplant recipients and donor families. He is also interested in incorporating stitching into his collages, a reference to the literal stitching together that occurs in transplant surgeries.
