Trees can live a very long time. The tree in this artwork is called the Council Oak, which some people say is 300 years old! People from the United States government and the Osage Nation met underneath this tree to sign a peace treaty letting settlers travel along the Santa Fe Trail.

If trees could talk, what stories could they tell us? What would this tree say about that meeting?
What else can we learn from trees?
What other trees have special names?
