Many of artist aaajiao’s technological creations rely on algorithms—mathematical sets of rules that precisely define a sequence of operations. The term algorithm stems from the Latin translation of the book On the Calculation with Hindu Numerals, written by Persian mathematician and geographer Muḥammad ibn Mūsā al-Khwārizmī (circa 780 CE–circa 850 CE). This work is part of the Obj. series of screen-based algorithmic programs encased in vintage wooden frames that effectively merge the antique with the high-tech.
