Archive Label:
After the Civil War, large-scale prints from American factories were known as cretonne. Used for drapes, upholstery and other home decorating, cretonnes were not fashionable for patchwork. This unknown seamstress ignored fashion to show off a good selection of the large-scale prints available in the 1880s.
