With the mere pressure applied by the printing plate, Paraguayan artist Claudia Casarino creates the impression of a folded shirt that belonged to a deceased boy. She printed this work when she was still a student in Paraguay. While making a social critique against physical violence, this work is contemplative and intimate. In the two most recent decades, she has continued to explore this theme in relation to other social issues. Other works by Casarino also engage with themes relating to clothes. For her 2017 solo show Sleep Disorder at Haw Contemporary in Kansas City, she restaged her installation that addresses the violence of human trafficking and the gendered rhetoric of clothing.
