Label texts

Intense black ink saturated with subtle details is the hallmark of Charles Cohan’s prints. He believes that hand-carved prints are capable of showing the traces of printmakers’ bodily presence and gestural power. With great physical strength, he crossed out the machine-printed texts in the background and veiled them behind layers of sharp vertical marks. The ear isolated in the dark background seems to invite auditory stimulus.
