Leah Balsham is a Chicago-based ceramicist and printmaker. She taught at the Art Institute of Chicago and worked for the WPA during the Great Depression. Balsham’s pottery was influenced by a fascination with Greek myths and vase painting, folk and primitive art, biblical lore, Japanese prints, Persian painting, patterned surfaces, and water ecology.

In recent years, Balsham has retired to Beverly Shores, Indiana, where she has volunteered extensively for a local animal shelter, designing their logo and creating ceramic cats that are sold at fundraisers.
