Yaoi, or “boy’s love,” is a literary genre from Japan that is written for a primarily young female audience and features homoerotic relationships between male characters. Using the visual language of this genre, Kim HwaHyun rejects heteronormative images of masculinity presented by Korean society. In this delicate scene, a Korean prince is about to brush a poem when a shimmering young man dressed in a white suit embraces him, hovering like an apparition from a future time.
