This dot painting by artist David West Tjupurrula depicts designs associated with the rock hole site at Mukula, a water source in the desert that is located in open flat country to the southwest of Jupiter Well in western Australia. Waterholes, which are essential for survival in the arid conditions of Australia’s Western Desert, are considered sacred places by the Pintupi Aboriginal tribe.
