Decade of Transformation: American Art of the 1960s

Avant-garde art in the United States underwent dramatic transformations in the 910s and contributed to the cultural ferment of that turbulent decade. The counter culture of the decade is represented in works with psychedelic imagery referring to the drug subculture of the decade, imagery protesting the Vietnam War, and pieces promoting the positive ideals of the hippie culture. The exhibition and its catalogue are supported by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
