Puppets and marionettes have played a unique part in the history of entertainment. Inspired by the visiting PAI Order No. 11 performance, the exhibition, Puppets with Purpose, examines how puppets and marionettes help people cope in difficult times. From Lawrence’s Bushong Marionettes of the Great Depression to the puppets created for Mexico’s Dia de los Muertos celebrations, puppets serve as a way to express cultural beliefs and a comforting reminder of childhood that stays with us even as adults. Puppets with Purpose will be on display October 25, 2013 - January 4, 2014.
